Recommend me an exhaust system
I've been researching what exhaust system to get for my 2003 3.4L V6 Tacoma, but can't seem set myself on one in particular. Borla seems nice and they are actually very close to me. My rig is 4WD but right now it's seeing mostly roads/streets. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You could check with Stillen to see if they still have any of the Cali setup catback systems available from their blowout a few months back.

It's a good cheap way of getting set up. Especially since you're already cali and are (assuming) already running a dual-cat setup, you'll save on the cost of adding the piece of pipe that those of us with non-cali setups had to include.
EDIT: my bad. Didn't notice you're working with a Tacoma, not a 4runner. Could probably still buy it cheap and alter it. Some have probably done it.

Are you looking for a whole system or just a muffler? I recently got a 24" magnaflow for mine. It's perfect, it's quiter than the 18". No ricey sound to it at all, low low grumble around 35-55mph and you can barely even hear it on the highway.

I've taken mine off-road and it has seen its share of rocks and is still doing fine (have had it on for 3 years)

Links to some exhaust vids of my Jardine system are in my sig. The Jardine system, if you get it, should be painted with some high heat ceramic paint as it comes "bare" from the factory. I still love mine, even after a few years. No issues.

stock pipes, Flowmaster 50, and nice tip! Sounds real nice and not to obnoxious. But it really depends on what your looking for in sound, whether its just a mellow rumble or a loud beast. I'd say listen to some sound clips to help is my .02

I have the same magnaflow too and love it, you can usually get a used one on ebay or cragislist. I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Magnaflow 60012. Also some of the forum sponsors usually have a sale going on. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.

edit: nevermind, you've posted the same post on several different make forums, thanks for the advertisment.

I want the whole system and not just the muffler, and i'm looking for more of a performance increase rather than how it sounds. So far It's Borla, Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Vortex, Stillen & Jardine. Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Those are just muffler companies though I believe. Meaning, those that actually make catbacks for our gen 4runners are TRD (Borla muffler), and Jardine (heard they discontinued the 4runner catback line recently).

i have a 3.0 so not sure if this helps you but im running the flowmaster 40 series with high flow cat. its been great but i think after three years i might change to something not so loud. now you have a 3.4 so i would think with a 40 flowmaster it would be alot louder. not sure you want to go that route in the long run. it gets old after awhile.

Also, the Jardine, TRD, Borla and Gibson systems are mandrel bent, which I hear doesn't really make a difference but theoretically has a performance advantage.

I put a turbo borla muffler on my 3vze and its amazing.
