I have figured it out.... I have an all new rear tire carrier that slides into the rear hitch receiver... It has a pin in it at the bottom that allows it to pivot down to access the rear hatch... The construction is out of 2X2 square with 1/4 side wall... It is strong enough to hold a truck up... I will have pictures Monday for you. Believe me when I say it is one hell of a good design and looks awesome on the back. The price is 195.00 ea.

how much does it sway or move as you go down the road? and tight of a fit is it in the receiver?

I'm not sure if this was ever addressed in the other spare tire carrier thread, but will there be a license plate mount on the carrier, or maybe even on the rim itself?

 

k I picked up one of his prototypes (w/out the hinge) I figured out how to mount the licensce plate, but the problem is, most jurisdictions require there to be a light on the plate at night. So now I gotta figure out how to run a light out to in in a manner so that the wires don't get caught on anything.

I'm interested in seeing what you've come up with! I've also thought about having one that connects to the roof rack and swings upward with the movement of the rear hatch, but I've not really thought completely through it.

The only real problem I see with this design is you can't tow anything at the same time, which would probably never be a real problem, though!

I thought about buying one of these. I worried that if not right away over time there would end up being enough play where the reciever goes in that it would rattle. How tight of a fit is it and will it hold up to rough roads/trails. How much will shipping be on these? Im still interested especially if your product is better than the cheese that the performance shop I was going to buy from offered. Blue

 

I forgot to ask you will it hold a 33 12.50 and how tight does the bar fit in the hitch.

Would it be possible to connect the license plate light to the towing wiring harness? That way the light would be on with the other lights ( what would be the trailer driving lights) at night when you need it, but would also be easy/convenient to dis connect?

It only sways a bite maybe 1/4" in either direction..
It doesn't rattle to much weight on it to rattle
If you order one I need to know the tire size you are running to adjust the neck length.
If you buy one of the 1.5" reciever hitch attachments you can simply slide it in the open end to tow with.
All hardware is grade 8

I use a anti-rattle bracket with my cargo carrier in my 2" receiver. Eliminates all movement. Works great. Looks like this...



Empty and folder up against the back of the truck (I can just see the top of it in the rear view mirror when folded), or loaded with a couple hundred pounds, its solid as a rock. Not even a wiggle when using the bracket. Even the ¾ mile "road" (a.k.a.: two tire tracks thru the woods requiring 4x4 clearance to get over the rocks/washouts) loaded with two deer carcasses (and bottoming it out numerous times) it did great. Before I bought the anti-rattle bracket it wobbled all the time.

I think Valley Industries made mine, which I picked up at a performance auto/4x4 shop, but Cabelas also carries some.
