rear output flange leak

rear output flange leak

ive got an 87 pickup, i recently installed the all pro transfer case mounted e brake, when i took the rear output flange out, there was some RTV on the nut, when i installed it back on, i didnt use any, now there is a small leak coming from it...is it OK to use RTV?

The RTV is used to seal the splines from oil. There is also an oil seal inside the t-case that rides on the outside of the flange. See if you can find where the leak is coming from (inside around the nut or outside) and fix the source.
