Rear OME lift going in today ... dump questions (help)

you think I would learn and just pay someone else to do these things. But nope, I'm a gluten for punishment. I'm getting ready to put the rear OME set up in today.

first question .. the rear sway bar ... is that the solid bar that runs right behind the rear axle.

I already have a couple of write ups .. so I'll keep posting questions as I go along, and if you guys have nothing better to do this saterday morning, you can get a good kick out of me putting this in

thanks

nope, the sway bar is the curvy on the attaches to the frameby the wheels. you can see the endlinks with the wheels on if you look into the wheel wells. you are thinking of the panhard bar, that locates the axle side to side. All you have to do to put in the OME is undo the swaybar, undo the shocks, and the axle should droop enough to work the old springs out, and put the new ones in. Be careful and good luck.

If you have the wheel off, there is a connector link (almost just like the front) just in front of the wheel inside the wheel well. All you have to do is take the nut off of the top and remove the washer and bushing, you don't have to take the link off of the swaybar.

The worst part about the rear is getting the top shock nut off. If you haven't already, using strap wrench on the shock body worked pretty well for me. Good luck!!! Make sure you install the taller spring on the driver's side, as my OME springs were mislabled.

bottom nut on the shock is off, and the sway bar is diconnected. I need to go get a vise grip for the shock, I can't hold it with on hand, and twist with the other.

off to sears I go

Yes, that wire keeps the shocks compressed during shipment.

Talking Rear sway bar

This is it in the picture, just disconnect it at the top and let the sway bar sag down.

Good luck!

it makes the front end look really low.

It was level with the spacers and the OEM shocks and springs. But with the new set up, its angled forward like a racecar. I thought that 150 lb bumper on the rear would bring it down. bu

will get a pic up in a few minutes

I'm slowly cranking mine front when I have time, it's a pain in the butt.
My passenger side is sitting about a half inch higher than the drivers side right now.
Still have about 3 inches total of cranking to go, it's a slow process.
