Rear hatch latch..NEED help BAD

I know this is a loooong shot, but...

Does anybody have a pic of the inside of their hatch? I have a problem losing a white plastic piece that connects the lower linkage to the upper, causing the door to stay shut. It slides on a brass(?) bracket and fits into a white circular plastic lock bracket. Much thanks to Andy for the help on figuring that part out!

What's happening is this small plastic piece just flies off the brass bracket every time I lock the door. Seems like there is a stopper that is missing or something. Dealer wants $168 to fix it!

Anybody have a clue?

Thanks
Jim

Are you still in town? I'll pop mine apart and see what's missing. If you're in town, then stop by Sat and I'll help you take care of it.

No, I'm not. I left yesterday morning. I took it all apart again and took it to the local dealership (Bill Penney). I got a tech to come look for about 15 min. He said I need a new actuator @ 168.13! This is starting to tinkle me off. I'm going to the parts bin tomorrow to see what I can do about a used one, but labor will kill this whole thing no matter what.

The plastic piece doesn't go all the way down, while unlocked, to actually open the door. It might catch it at times, but it's not seated correctly. Then when unlocked, the actuator makes it go too far up and it comes completely off.

EDIT: If it's not going DOWN far enough on unlock, but going too far UP when locked...maybe something isn't aligned and needs to be turned one way.

Just bring it over next time you're in town and I'll fix it - free. Don't waste your time going to another dealer.
