Or can I order a universal and bolt/weld it on?

Also, where's the cheapest place to get an O2 sensor? I'm afraid to look at how much those cost but around $100 would be nice.

And finally, what is the front pipe and why do they go for $800-1500?

I only paid about $100 or so for my cat. Call a muffler shop........Dont know bout O2 sensor.

That's WAY too much for a cat on these.

i hope my lasts a long time
used would be a good choice. you should be able to find new for about half of that. when i had a blazer i bought a universal bolt-on from autozone for about $70, easy to install, passed smog, unloaded it!

My knowledge only pertains to California emission laws, so if you're elsewhere, this may not apply to you. In California you can purchase sub-$100 cats for pre-1996 vehicles and you'll pass the visual and the sniffer test if the cat is fairly new. I have found these inexpensive cats do not last long (less precious metals that strip the bad stuff from the air), so plan on replacing them often. If you have an OBD-II vehicle (1996+), which includes all 2.7 and 3.4 Tacomas and 4Runners, it is illegal for anyone to sell you a used cat, illegal for any muffler shop to modify the exhaust (cat-backs are okay) and there are NO EPA approved OBD-II cats available. Sucks, huh? My friend just had to spend $1200 x 2 for his BMW to get it to pass.

My cats (CA truck) are fine for now but I was just doing some research if that day comes where I do have a problem but I do have 109k on the O2 sensor so I'm probably going to replace that when I do a tuneup.

Looks to me like you found the wrong site to do business with. Those prices are WAY high. Keep looking.

Yeah so they can put it on with the $900 hammer and $37,000 welder. Gotta pay overhead.

Me too.

X-AW...why not ditch both cats (now) and replace them with a single $60 Magnaflow cat? Would probably be nothing but beneficial like it has for many others.

I'd love to switch to one cat but I'm not sure if the ECU would throw a CEL.
