You need to haul a person around just to open the fuel door

Gas station quick fix put vice grips on the cable after pulling it back open the door release vice grips fuel close fuel door good till next fueling or until fixed.

I just put on a large glob of silicone let harden works great.

This is what I have to do with my 4th gen. I finally realized I can prop the release cable in the open position with my 4 cell Mag Lite while I pull the fuel door open with my fingernail. The hinge is riveted on and needs replacing. My 89's hinge was screwed in place: easier to repair. Sigh.

Next time this happens to someone may I recommend taking your debit card and slip it into the gap on the corner of the gas door so it is flexed in their concaved around the corner of the door (on the opening side obviously). Then go and pull the lever, the force of the card being flexed in there will sproing open the door, and no scratches from prying at your gas door! ( I R SMRT!) No gas attendant needed....Then may I also recommend going and paying the 4 dollars for a new one lol.

What is more of a pain is when it is warm out and rains then drops to 10 F over night

I have broke the fuel door off two times .

I don`t even think if I really need gas.
