Rain Guards

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone out there have an opinion on rain guards? There are two basic types. One is applied with an adhesive. The other goes into the window track itself. Is any one type better than the other? I'm sure someone out there has had some experiences with them. I appreciate the advice.

I don't know much about the advantages/disadvantages, but I can tell you that I've had my adhesive ones for a year now, through heat, rain & snow and never had a problem with them. I think if they are applied correctly they will last you forever.

A friend of mine has had his (adhesive ones as well) on his Nissan truck for over 8 years and all is well.

Hope this helps a bit.

Al

I'd rather not stick them on my paint, and I also prefer the slim and almost clear look of my Weatherflectors

I didn't want to stick them on the paint either, but I wasn't sure about having plastic in between my windows and the rubber seal.

Fortunately, Jason B had posted how you can use the stick on kind and tape them to the black rubber trim. That is what I did and it looks clean. You have to loosen your mirrors to tuck the deflectors behind them and then tighten them back up.

This was the best compromise for me; neither is perfect

Yes, I have the adhesive ones and they have been on my truck for ever 3 years. They match the tint great.

I also put them on the black trim instead of the paint. This also makes them flow better and I think this is how they were really meant to be installed on our trucks.

I have the adhesive ones made by Ventshade and I love them. I got them from Cabelas . Not sure what the going rate is, but you can get them is 2-packs for the front doors or a 4-pack for all the doors. Just about any auto parts store can get them.

I have the weatherflectors, the ones that stick between the window and the seal. I think the look is much cleaner than the stick on ones. I don't mean to dog anyone's ride, but the stick on ones, IMHO, are bulky and stick out pretty far.

I got the same ones at the same place for around the same price. I love them. They are the very first mod I put on the 4Runner. Can't live without them! :fireman:
