Ok. I haven't posted on here in a long time. I have a 1999 Tacoma V6 that has a coolant leak at the trans cooler fitting on the passenger side. The fitting is a threaded pc with a nut and large washer against the radiator. The antifreeze is dripping right at the washer. I've read on here about trans cooler problems and the "milkshake" thing (oooh, that gives me chills just thinking about it). Can this fitting be replaced or is it a good idea just to replace the radiator? The truck has 210,000 miles on it, but I don't know if it is the original radiator.

Replace it! you can get a pretty good one online for not to much money, just make you get one with the built in trans cooler or get a separate trans cooler, im running a hayden trans cooler on my 99

 

Replace the radiator, bypass the integrated cooler with an auxiliary one.

 

Yeah my hayden pro trans cooler works so much better than the built in one, thats why when i replaced my radiator i ordered one without the trans cooler, ive got got my trans cooler positioned at 70%

 

Thanks. I'll probably replace it with one with the trans cooler. I read on the forum that the external trans coolers may not be the best in colder winter climates.
Also, do you guys prefer the metal radiator from "radiator barn" or others from parts stores?

Just get another denso one and be done with it. Chances are, you'll never replace it again.

My radiator was about to do the same thing. You can take a look at the photos I posted here. Replace that radiator!
