Question about VIP RS3000 Alarm

So I have had my 4Runner for a long while and have never hooked the harness that is disconnected from the VIP alarm under the drivers seat back in. I never recieved any key fobs when I purchased my car and didn't want to disable anything by just plugging the little harness in to the module under my driver seat. I got the car with the harness unplugged from the VIP box.

So my question is
1) Is it safe just to hook the module into the harness running to it or do I need to do something or have some information ready?
2) Do I need to by the 2 button key fob just to use the alarm? ( I assume this would also activate the keyless entry?)
3) Where would the fuse be?( I assume in the box below the left side of the dash?)

If anyone has the owners manual or the install directions for the alarm that would be helpful.
I have read a bunch of other threads on this and didn't get any clear answers and the steps I should take to get the alarm working.
Thanks

you need a remote to program your alarm... however, if you get a chance to "borrow" someone's remote, you can always delete it after you've finished your programming...

you can (my alarm is set this way) enable active arming so that 15 or 30 seconds after you lock the door, the truck will automatically arm the alarm, and to disable the alarm, you open the door and turn the igition key ON and then off twice, or start the engine...

remotes are NOT required to use the RS3000 TVIP security system... only required to program it...

the install manuals and users guides are here... i take no credit for this, as i read it all off this site... and a damn good site it is.. . http://4runners.org/writeups/rs3000/index.html

Thanks alot guys, Ill try to get a 2 button remote off ebay and program mine up. I guess there is no way for me to enable the alarm each time without reprogramming the alarm to do it itself or having a remote to enable it as I walk away. Thanks again for the info. David

How do you tell if you have the RS3000 VIP system? I get the piezo chirper sounds and flashing of the lights....but I don't have a security LED like I see in Limited's.

anyone.....? I read through that link and the only thing I don't have is the security LED found in most LTD's. Did SR5's come with RS3000 system ? But no LED security tab ?

I believe the LED is integrated in your center bezel- above the radio cutout, beside the defroster switch. i think that's how they did it on the 99+ runners. It looks pretty stealthy, next to the passenger seatbelt LED....
