Pushing & ABS

Can I push someone withoth the ABS going off? What would it take to set the air bags off? Keep the wise ass comments of hitting someone to ya self.

Back when I had a Camry I went bumper to bumper with my cousin's near-death 80s Corolla and pushed it up a 10 degree incline for 10 ft.

I think the airbags will only go off if you do some serious crumpling to the bumper.

ABS

I do believe that most air bags are only set to go off if you are involved in a 17 mph or greater crash from the front. Just go slow...

ABS is "Anti-Lock Braking System", the "Air-Bags" are part of the "SRS" or "Supplemental Restraint System".

It takes quite a jar to set the SRS system off. It could conceivably happen if you were push starting someone, they popped the clutch and you tapped them. If you are just talking about a gentle push, why not use a strap and pull them instead? That way there is less chance of damage from vehicle to vehicle contact.

From what i beleive you must be going 11mph before they are even allowed to engaged. for them going off they are impact sensitve you need to create a total decelleration of 11mph in order them to go off.

i could be wrong.

I was involved in an accident on the freeway with a Camry that was 8-9 years old at the time...
Some guy cut me off and then slammed on his brakes - I hit him at a decelerating 45-50 and my airbag didn't go off
