Price check

Folks: Probably selling my ol Taco... after all the booo-ing, would you mind telling me what you think of my asking price? I do want to be fair... but also I am in no rush to sell so that is why I am asking a premium (I think) price. Please tell me what you think http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dcbgtch3_56gs2vwbqd

Thanks, bk

I'm going to replace it with a small hatchback car. probably like a 2006-7 subie impreza, for commuting/town/highway stuff.

keeping my 4runner tho, building it out for expedition - got OME lift, can-back, LC header, 31" Revos, 4.56 gears and f/r Truetracs. Just finished the drive train last week, been breaking in the gears, gonna go wheel it tomorrow

Nice truck.

Can't offer feedback on your price, other than to say it sounds like you've done your homework and your price is right in there...in the end things are worth whatever someone is willing to pay. Capable rigs that get decent mileage are definitely holding their value better than big gas hogs these days, even with gas prices down for now.

Some pics of it all shined up would probably be good. Having said that, I like the pic showing your truck in context of how it might be used, and allowing potential buyers to picture themselves out camping with it.

It's interesting how much more trucks are "worth" than 4runners, considering that trucks were cheaper to build and cost less originally. I paid $8700 about 4 months ago, for a clean 2000 4runner 5 spd 4WD 3RZ with 91k and many nice options, and some people think I overpaid. Seeing that you have 4:10 gears and 31" tires give me hope that I could get away with 31's on my 4runner, despite it being considerably heavier.

And yeah, what are getting to replace this nice rig? What could possibly be better? **EDIT**just saw your last post, never mind...

riverrat, sounds to me like you got a great deal on your runner. re 31" tires, i have gone many difficult places in the boonies during the last 25 years on that size tire and standard suspensions with open differentials.

Thanks it was certainly worth that to me- was a replacement for my venerable 88 runner, which was not working out due to the 2-door configuration and a new family member...

As far as the tire size- I'm mainly concerned that 31's would reduce my mileage and performance- the 3RZ is a great motor and I do not need a huge amount of power. But 3rd gen runners are HEAVY and while the 3RZ pushes it down the road somewhat better than the 22RE did my 88, it is still no powerhouse. I'm currently running 235/75-15s- one size bigger than the tiny stockers that came with this rig. The one option it did not come with (aside from the e-locker) that I'd like to have is the 16" wheels/larger tires & brakes/4:56 gear package.

I'm not a hardcore wheeler, mainly just rough USFS roads and snow. The 4runner is my daily driver and I want to keep the mileage in the 20s, that is why I sought out a runner with the 3RZ motor. But I'd also like a bit more clearance. I have some 16" rims, and will gradually assemble the parts needed for the Tundra brake upgrade, then eventually switch to slightly bigger tires and a mild (1-2") lift. I do not plan to spend the $$ on regearing, so what I'm basically looking at is the largest tires I can run with my 4:10 gears and still maintain decent mileage and performance. I'd guess 31s are probably about the max.

Anyway, good luck with your sale. That is a nice looking truck and in the best color, IMO. I bet you will sell it pretty fast. I polished up my 88 runner, totally scrubbed and Armor-alled the interior, put on some of that shiney tire snot stuff, and it sold pretty fast for $3300. Before that, I had a white 1985 Nissan 4WD King Cab for 15 years and many great adventures in that, despite it being so underpowered it was almost dangerous. Your truck looks like an updated version of that rig, right down to the camper shell...if I had the $$ I'd love to buy it to compliment my 4runner!
