4Runner History

 

Very intense.
Lots of info.

Whoops. Anyone know what's wrong with this?

 

I can't spot it.
I can't believe J.D. Power called it a Compact SUV. After driving my Escort for a week or two, the 4Runner feels like a bus.

 

Comma splice or possibly a dangling modifier?

or- maybe they left out the 2.4L 4-cyl engine choice. Mine didn't come with "trim." I had to meet and marry a girl from college for that.

 

No one's got it yet...

 

so they did come with "trim?" I got ripped off.

I would imagine the 4cyl isn't a DOHC or "twin cam."

Wasn't the SR5 the base model?

 

I thought the 4-banger was a single cam 2 valve head.

 

Here's one for you: WHO was responsible for the concept and execution of the original 4Runner?

 

96 runner they don't put 4 cylinders in 4 runners amymore. they quit doing that around 94 wasn't it? thats what i heard from someone.

 

2000 models were the last.

 

they were wrong about all the 1st gen 4 runners having manual hubs also. they automatic hubs even on the 85 solid axle 4 runners. they started the stupid auto hubs in 84.

 

I would go with BT17R on this. Was the 2.7 a 2 valve engine?

Or, I spotted something else. They left out the Sport and Highlander (was that what it was?) models.

You guys REALLY tore that thing apart. I just thought it was interesting that the article said twin cam 3.4, when the engine advertises "four cam" in big letters when you open the hood.

I honestly dont know about the 4-banger.
