power steering pump

just letting anyone know that if your pump goes out, feels or looks like it's leaking check the copper metal washer on the pressure bolt. I know that these aren't supposed to fry unless you do some heavy off-roading, however, somehow my inner washer came off. I went through a lot of trouble shooting and changing out my two pumps, only to find out that it would have only took about 15- 30 min. to have changed out the washer.

The problem I have now is that I can't get my power steering belt tight enough. I have turned the pump as much as it can go toward the engine, but there is still a little bit of slack. I don't feel that the pump (5-10 degree angle) towards the engin could be correct. Maybe it's time to change the belt (stretched out), but the belt still looks fine. If any of you have any ideas, please shoot them my way!

I have aa 88' V-6 4wd runner.

I just installed a new p/s pump a month ago, my old one had leaks too.

I would replace the belt. Belts are fairly cheap anyways.
