My power antenna is just died on me this weekend. I just replace the stock battery this weekend with Optima Red top and next day, my power antenna did not go down. When I played CD player then the antenna should go down but all I heard was the antenna motor running but it does not go down. Just wonderring anyone has this antenna issue or any ideas how to fix or replace. Thanks in advance.

I replaced mine a month or so ago. The parts were like $30 not bad at all. The problem with mine was the teeth that pull the antenna back down broke. Its easy to buy the parts and install. Just pull the old one out and feed the new one down.

You may also have to pull the motor assembly from the wheelwell and crack it open to remove the bits that broke inside the reel. When I did mine, I found about 15 teeth and the bottom half of the zip-cord broken off inside the reel. If you don't remove them you risk the new zip-cord jamming up and either getting stuck or breaking, or the antenna not going up or down correctly. it's easy to pull and open it up, just be careful once you open it not to lose the nut and screw for the housing and don't cut the plastic shroud off, just fold it up to access everything.
EDIT: Here is the part number you will need:

I am also going with the whip ant.
But, I haven't ordered it yet and I cut my power ant off already.
Is there a way to disconnect power to just the ant. motor without cutting power to other accesories.
I want to know only so i too don't have to hear the whine of the motor doing nothing everytime i shut down power and restart.
thanks

Go with a whip (fixed) antenna. You won't be disappointed nor will you ever have to worry of it breaking. http://www.4runners.org/articles/whip

There's an ebay merchant who sells a replacement power antenna. Look under "Other Parts" and look for the search term "Toyota."
I bought one from them for $18. It came via usps priority mail with instructions. If you really want to have the power antenna, this is a good option. These people are good.
My 4runner's still in the shop getting the sunroof done, so I haven't had a chance to replace it, but the instructions are pretty simple.
