Porting a 22re intake plenum and manifold
I recently have come across a complete 22re fuel injection setup. I was wondering if anyone had ported the manifold and plenum. It probally would be hard to do with a dremel, but I have acess to a media blaster.
toyotaperformance.com uses media blasting to port there intake stuff. Has anyone done anything like this? Would it be worth doing? Anyone know where a write up is on boring out a throttle body? I know <96_runner> (I think) bored his throttle body himself, but he has a 3.4. Can't be much different from a 22re right?

I've done it before, but not on a Yota. We used a pneumatic die grinder and a port and polish kit from Standard Abrasives. It's a pretty simple process, if a little time consuming. Performance-wise, it will help, but don't expect miracles. Check out Summit Racing for P&P kits.

We port matched the intake and exhaust manifolds to the ports on the cylinder head (using the gaskets as a template) and smoothed the casting flash in the head and intake manifold. We also smoothed out the tops of the combustion chambers. This was on a '90 CRX. You have to have the head off to do all that, but I imagine the process would be similar for the throttle body, except you won't have a gasket to use as a guide; you'd just be boring it out and removing unnecessary material.

I used an over bored throttle body and the larger gasket with it to gasket match the intake on the plenum. Trace the gasket opening and grind out the material to fit. On the intake, there is a coolant passage behind the TB, so you can't remove as much material as you would like, but better than nothing. I just used an air die grinder and some steel and carbide burrs.
