I've never done this myself but people do this all the time to car and motorcycle wheels. It's quite popular actually. I've even seen people do their whole car if they drive in crappy areas where they salt the roads in the winter. It should hold up fine except for the lug nuts.

Here is a channel that has a lot of details on this stuff. Pretty interesting stuff.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvkq-qyY9aY

It is for a lot more then just wheels that is for sure.

Can anybody tell me what happens when you hit those with a 2500 psi gasoline pressure washer (what I use on my wheels with Duplicolor paint)? It doesn't look like it could take it.

{EDIT] Also, Outsane, the DIY's I have seen say to mask the gripping surface of the rotors where they contact the pads. Aren't you worried that yellow paint will mess up your pads?

If you watch the video I posted they do that. You would not want it set to stream naturally but then that is bad for real paint.

In a normal car wash style spray setting it seems to hold up fine if applied correctly. Like with any kind of paint job the prep is everything.

I've done this on a past rig - but sanded and prepped the wheels and used Duplicolor wheel paint. Worked great - and when I sold that particular 4Runner, it was still holding strong after 2 years in the Midwest. Prep work is key, regardless of whether or not you remove the wheels from the truck.

Looks good IMO.

Thanks shrimpman, I'll definitely prep the wheels is this doesn't hold up too well although it should. Plasti dip is such a reliable product
