Pictures of my new 285's and my FENDER BENDER!! -Help!
Last week I got my new 285 BFG M/T's put on. I then decided that Im going to stop spending money on the truck for a while, because I was happy with it.
Then, yesterday, the unthinkable happend: A pole jumped out, and ran right at me. I was going too fast (5mph) to react...then WHAM! It dove right into my front bumper. I swear, those poles ... they are dangerous creatures.
No, well, I was dropping my friends off at hte airport at 7:15AM, and the glare was so bad from the sun. I actually hit a sign that said "Watch out for Pole!" and then I hit the pole. It was literally in the middle of the parking lot. I dont know what hte purpose of the pole was. BUt, there was a sign to watch out for it. ... okay. Way too bright to see.
So, it broke my d. side mirror, that cost $48.00 from toyota just for the GLASS. And, now a guy quoted me $300 to fix just the fender. I was thinking that I could buy a cheap, unpainted bumper from ebay for under $100. My plastic lower valance snapped off too. So, now im thinking about making a mini skid plate to fill that area.
Here are the pictures. Notice my new sliders too!! I owe it ALL to Michael (ahriman). He gave up a good 12 hours of his free time to help a buddy out. I hope I can help him out in the future with whatever he needs!!
Lastly, I am interested in doing the body work myself. I glass surfboards all day long for a living, so I am good with resin and fiberglass. However, I've never used bondo, and I dont know a thing about body work. I would like to learn and anyone with any info on it please point me in the right direction!!!

I have an entire bumper and valance that you can have for FREE. It's is pretty decent condition, a TINY bit tweaked but it isn't noticable. The valance has been lightly trimmed. It'll be in Sacramento by the 20th.

I would personally use it as an excuse to get an ARB or TJM bumper and just leave the fender alone, it didn't look too bad. Sweet truck, I like the tires. Trees tend to jump out in front of people too.

Holy crap!
Thanks for that link.
They have that "filler panel" that is bent (right below my headlight) for $3.00!!! ... Drivers side=LH side or RH side?
The M/T's are actually not noisy at all. They were noisy for like the first few days when I went ~45mph. Now, they dont make any noise...
As for the aftermarket bumper... Maybe sometime in the next 5 years lol!!

you guys should see the lot i park in for work in our new office (we just switched office buildings, moved down the road). its an underground garage that has these HUGE support columns that actually run into every other spot. so one line of the spot is literally cut off by a huge support column.
i fear the day im so tired from work that i screw up and hit one of those poles....
