I saw this 99 flat black 4-Runner ad on Craigslist Saturday morning and at first clicked on it to flag it but then read it and thought maybe it was true. I really did not need another vehicle right now so I texted it to my friend who was semi in the market (had been watching for a Tacoma). Long story short we got this back home for $1,500. Yes the body and interior is rough but the engine bay was all original and it only has 200k on it. The 3.4 had a cylinder 4 misfire and the shocks are obviously shot but otherwise the 4wd drivetrain seems solid. Previous owner had tried to fix the misfire so it already had new plugs, wires, coils and fuel filter. We swapped the fuel injector 4 with cylinder 1 and the code swapped accordingly. $100 later with a new injector in cylinder #1 she runs perfect, even sounds better than mine thanks to some exhaust mod. He plans on using it for deer hunting and off roading.

 

Can't beat a deal like that!

 

Nice deal. I occasionally see beater 3rd Gens like that pop up around here and have momentary thoughts of getting one to give my high-miler a break.

Nice Buy! Just drove by a similar one for sale. $3499.00. Sounds like a dealer price, but was parked on the street.
