PCV catch-can
Has anyone put a custom PCV catch can on the 3.0? If so, what difference did you possibly notice in performance, or clenliness in the intake? Some pics will be cool.
I've been wanting to put one on, but i don't have all the materials yet.

I decided to go with two catch-cans. One for the PCV valve, and another for the valve-cover breather.
The one for the PCV valve is gonna be made up 3'' PVC pipe, two 3'' end caps, a few barbed fittings, and heater/vinyl hose to run the system.
For the valve-cover breather, I might use an air/water seperator for a air compressor; but i have a feeling the plastic will melt from the heat of the engine. If that idea doesn't work, i'll use a small fuel filter with the mesh filter; the paper filter seems to get covered in oil, and clog the filter.
My idea should work

I finally got the fuel-filter catch-can done; I ripped it apart, and took the paper filter out; there were no mesh type filters,what a bummer. Now i'm waiting for the oil to accumilate.
I'm currently working on the PCV catch-can, but i think the water/air seperator filter will work better, the home-made catch-can seems to leak some air. Epoxy might solve this problem. Either way, theres hardly any oil going into the intake.

Use a quart paint can with brass hose fittings and seal them with a high temp metal repair compound (it can be found at kragen and it's used to repair cracked manifolds).
I am running this set-up and it is air tight. My driver's side valve breather is hosed over to the passenger side, where it T's to the passenger side breather's hose. After the T is an inline pcv valve, then it connects to the catch can. On the inside of the catch can is a short length of hose to ensure the oil goes to the bottom and doesn't get sucked into the 'out' port of the can. I use another inline pcv valve in the hose back to the plenum to help cut back on oil flow.
It works well. I will try to remember to get some pics up tomorrow.

I just finished my PCV catch-can last week, and it is running great. It really keeps the oil out of the intake. After just driving around for one week, there is already a fair amount of oil accumilated in the catch-can. When the car is idling, the catch-can sounds like when i first had my stock air-box.
One question, where can i get 3/8'' heater hose? My braided vinyl hose collapsed under the heat, but it still flows well
