parking break problems need help

parking break problems need help

i have a 1999 4runner v6 sr5, i disengaged the parking break one day after working all day and the wire for the parking break came out of the metal poll holding it in, i need to know how to put it back in, it has a hich or like a little bar that doesnt let me put it back in, if anyone can tell me how it would mean a lot, im going to seattle live in missoula,mt and the only reason why im asking is becasue there are hills there and i dont just want to leave it in parking in a gear, please help, the parking break has nockes sawed in to is so it stays in but it is on my passanger floor becasue it came all the way off any help to get it back in or what i need to do??

what is that?? also i have a weird sound when i drive some times like a grinding noise but it sounds like its hitting plastic i have a flap is hanging down could that be the problem?

a 4x4 piece of wood will work or a big brick or something to hold keep the truck from rolling back if the parking pawl decides to break.

yeah my parking brake isnt even engaged, just trying to get it fixed, that sucks about the truck though
