Oh I was referring to myself as the troll. You've at least had some valuable input; I've just drooled on the keyboard and made fun of you for no good reason...

LOL, don't know how much good I have added, this is a ways outside my area of expertise. I know just enough to get me in trouble.

Everything fits now. Just need to get a socket for the ATMega and solder it up.

Seems like everything is either 2" or 4" and the board is 2.5", might just have to order something. I don't want it to be all big and bulky, but I just want to finish it.

Have you looked into one of those RadioShack project enclosures or similar?

I looked at them but they just had a 4x2 and a 3x2 then went up to like 5x2.5, just wish I could find a 3x3.

try keeping an eye out at garage sales, people will almost give old electronics away. You can gut them and use them for project boxes. I know that prob wont help you right now, but just for the future.

What about an old ATX computer power supply box? I got plenty of them laying around. Best thing is you can retain the fan for cooling.

or some sort of waterproof case. search ebay, and you can get a good idea of sizes. easy to work with, seal-able, and can be opened/closed to change out components

How about fabricating one from fiberglass? that way you can make a customized box

Here is a pic of the removable ATMega in its socket, also the wires for power/shift solenoids/LED display.

A little more progress. There is also a pot to dim the shift indicator LED's.

hint i've learned: tie the wires in a simple knot before they leave the case. that will eliminate the chance of pulling the wires off of the board

just a thought.

and of course it looks good
