If your running a winch and some lights and a compressor everyone recommended yellow tops instead of the red.

I actually picked up a 34R today but it doesn't have a spacer with it. How do you get one, I know one can be made easily. I emailed Optima via the contact email address on their website.

You need a reverse pole battery, eg 34R. It'll cost you about 100 depending where you go.

I bought the Exide XCD. It is very similar to the Optima but has its connector poles in the center of the battery so it can be turned any way and fits our cables ok but is a little bit of a stretch. It also has the extra terminals on the side if you need them for accessories. It is a deep cycle too.

Instead of using a spacer on the bottom, I straightened the hold down top piece somewhat and put two small 1/4" thick pieces of wood to take up the balance of space and the battery sits in it's original tray and looks and works just fine. It's a very secure hold down this way.

I used a very similar method on my stock bracket to hold down the battery for 5.0,it has been working fine for a couple month, so far so good.

I called Optima today and asked them how to get a spacer tray for the battery. They said they'd send me one so that's pretty cool! I gave them my address and should be here end of week.
