Is this one of the "good" '99's?

I did some research and am looking for one of the 99's with higher suspension but not sure how to identify this.

Also, what models as far as features were offered and what were the differences, ie: limited, sr5 or whatever else is out there?

And, are the all black bumpers stock? If so, what model are the standard on? I really like the all black look.

Thanks

All "Highlanders" have hood scoops. And most have a rear E-Locker.

That one is not a "Highlander" I'm pretty sure the Highlander's came with the bigger Flare package, with the sport hood.

just by looking at it I dont personally think it has the taller springs, somebody else might know better but it looks like the same gaps in the wheel wells as my 98...maybe a little more because I'm running 265/75 bfg's and those look like they are smaller tires/stock size. just my .02

a vin number that you could run through toyota would tell you all about its options, or pics of the inside would show if it had the rear diff lock button

tough to tell from a picture. If you go see the 4runner, take a look at the springs. The taller springs have a blue/pink stripe (driver side) and a blue/yellow stripe (passenger side).
Also, the highlander package is similar to the sport package. Toyota changed the name in 2001.

Not completely true, '99 Highlanders came w/ the thin black flares. Newer Sport models came w/ the wide flares. For example, check out Ric's Highlander to see his slim black flares. Now my '02 Sport Edtion has the wider flares.

'99s came in both. One reason this is such a popular year 4Runner to own. Upgraded creature comforts w/ optional e-locker and/or 5spd.

Check out J.A.'s site on Highlanders. Here's his home page: Home Page

Here's his info on the Highlander Package and what it came with: Highlander Info

'99 was the 1st year of the Highlander Package. Toyota later dropped that package name and changed it to just Sport Package. Then Toyota changed it again and called it the Sport Edition package which continues to run today.

'99s with the taller springs also sit 1" than any other year 4Runner. Matter of fact, a green '99 Highlander passed me today while I was driving down the road. That extra 1 inch of lift is very noticable when you know what you're looking at.

The e-locker Models have a button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel that reads: RR DIFF LOCK.

x2.

Notice the Grille and front & rear bumpers are color coded to match the vehicle. It has the scoop and slim black fender flares. Looks tall too. All signs point to Highlander.

Yep, that's a Highlander. Looks nice! My Highlander didn't come with a locker, but has leather. Go figure. It more than likely has the taller coils too.

highlanders here were always known as the lil utes bigger than the rav4. we never got highlander models. however..we did get badlands models which were just base models, but with colour coded flares. no running boards or door mouldings. only available on 01-02 up here...

the one the OP posted arent the sport/ltd flares...but looks to be a good candidate if it has the elocker in it...

You have a Highlander edition since no other models that year came in all black with the skinny flares.
