Well after tonnes of reading on Yotatech and second guessing my decision too many times I finally settled on OME Shocks and Coils and 285 Revos.

I went with a popular setup in the rear 891 and N86. For the front I went with 882 and N91S, well actually the guys as sleeoffroad talked me into getting 882 up front. I was hesistant to get them since I don't have an ARB up front yet. I ended up just going for it (with some encouragement from GapGuy). I picked up a some Roger Brown diff drops for good measure. The install went pretty well and the CVs were not that bad only 1 one fin touching.

I was going to go with just 265/75 Revos but the guy at the tire shop was great and said he would test fit some 285/75 to see how much rubbing there would be. There was no rubbing with the test tires so I decided to go for the 285 Revos. When I got the Revos on there was some very slight rubbing on the running board, no rubbing anywhere else (pinch welds and upper A-Arms are both clear). I ended up removing the front end plastic for the running board. I am going to wait to get some sliders before removing the running boards.


I had to do my install in a couple stages.
1. Install OME coils and shocks then test fit 285
2. order 285
3. Install 285

I have 4 pics for each of the stages. The middle one is funny cause it makes my tires looks soooo small.

how does the truck drive? Noticeable loss of power with the tires?

The Truck drives pretty well. I have only driven about 200-300 miles so far. I have noticed acceleration is a little sluggish but once I get up to 70 its fine and gas mileage seem to be a little worse, but I have been driving a little more aggressive and [ECT on - read it on another thread]. The thing corners awesome no body roll or squealing tires.

 

Looks awesome! A few months ago I was looking at a 4runner JUST like your's. Love it. Are you having problems with rubbing on the upper control arm with 285's and stock wheels?

Ya know..I'm gonna get crap for "suggesting" the 882's for the added ride height.

The OME setup was about $665 from slee off road.
285 Revos were 760 installed.

 

Yep, looks real good, Spiff! Nice comparison shots. I'm glad you decided not to keep the stock tires on! Interesting that you ordered through Slee. From what I've seen, the 882's aren't much different than the 881's. They'll probably sag a bit soon enough.


Slightly larger wheel wells up front. Not sure about the back.

One of my co-workers recommended sleeoffroad, he ordered his OME setup for his landcruiser and was pretty happy with them. Their service was over was pretty good. I did see them slightly less from rocky-road and plus they have free shipping by that time there were already shipped.

The 882 are longer out of the box from what I read:

882 - 395mm = 15.551in

I did measure my 882 before and they were 15.5 inches.

Looks sweet, I really need to get the at least the rear of my truck lifted a bit.

The Revo's are definatly the way to go, I cant belive how great they were in the deep sand, dirt & water, and they're remarkably smooth on road to boot.

 

Looks great. Once you get the sliders and lose the running boards it will look much better and higher. Looks great though.

Thanks SLC Punk ! Thats how I felt too, my runner seemed so low, I had a 93 runner before this and its height on stock suspension seem higher than the 2001 stock.
