ok, 4th gen v8 2004 4runner questions here...

well, this is my GF's truck. 04, 4runner v8 awd,sr5, 17" wheels, and some other bels and whistles. we love this truck. it is my Gf's third 4 runner, 95, 98, and now the 04. i love how this truck does everything. no comparison to my friends 04 xlt sport ford explorer v8. its funny how much better this toyota is than the explorer....

anyways... since we do actually off road in our 4runner, we want to put bigger/ more aggressive tires on her. these dunslop at20's suck. whats the biggest size we can plop on the runner without any clearance issues? 265/65 r 17 stock. and if we do have to lift her, whats the cheapest, most effective way to do that? we dont want the runner to be too tall, since one of our dogs is getting old, and she is 120 lbs. so picking her up and putting her in the truck isnt the wisest of choices...

btw, i just installed a yakima loadwarrior on her. looks tough, and will give the dogs more room when we camp.. hmm, now i suppose you guys need a pic or twelve :monkey:

biggest tire without lift = 265/70/17
cheapest lift = spacers (revtek, daystar, cornfed depending on whether she has xreas or not)

hehe. i just wanted to help, and, since 5 people ask this question every day (and yes, there was a time when i asked it too ... and now i just ask continual questions about 285s) it's become like a recording.

but, glad to help, hope you find the answer you were looking for, horkn

oh, well, since you don't have xreas, you have a greater selection of choices ...

nonetheless, i believe that spacers are still the "cheapest" option.

you know, Nitrous Enterprises (Billy's comp.) is putting together a complete 3-3.5" suspension kit that can be ordered with spacers, coils, or both. they'll even fabricate anything in regards to those parts. he is fourunnabilly on yotatech.

sounds like an awesome kit that billy is making.

edge, my friends is a 4 door explorer xlt sport v8. the sport 3 door and sport trac are only v6, although pretty nice v6's. and i moderate at TLplanet.com dedicated to the suzuki Tl 1000 both S and r models. i own an S, a red 97 tls that makes 120 rwhp

i swear i saw somebody on this site had a tls, now i need to send him to tlplanet therapy.
