Um, I tried finding my autozone cheapo manual to the truck but couldn't find it. Might want to just go up there and look in one of their manuals then go buy a socket. or ask them for a dummy light sensor and match a socket to it. Just reccomendations.

For some reason I remember reading something about a wire or something similar inside the gauge that the indicator gets caught on. Its been a long time since I read about it but do a search on 4x4wire, thats where I remember reading about it.

Chanel lock type pliers will work just fine to remove the unit. So too will reaching under it with the appropriately sized open end wrench (10mm as I recall).

as for the size of the socket to remove the sender, i recently
did mine (I have a 2L diesel though). It took a 27mm deep socket
to remove it. Oddly the new sender I got from Toyota
took a 24mm deep socket to install..
I know a guy with an MR2 (not sure the year or engine) and I know
that sender also takes 27mm, so 24 or 27mm is a good bet..

hope this helps..

Rami

That reminds me, it is for sure a 27mm deep wall. The Napa store I work at didn't even have one in stock, I had to order it from the Distribution Center. Now I have a 27mm deep wall socket I'll probably never use again :pat:
