barely used, $85 shipped from CO to TN, from ravencr

it was listed here for sale for over 2 years. at that price, i couldn't pass it up. i used to have the TRD bags on another runner i used to own and loved the feel and adjustability, so when these came across my lap for that price (the cost of just the bags when new basically) i had to jump on it.

Installation Details

 

No offense to anyone but I don't think the "all Toyota" lift looks very good unless you plan to run 33s. If you want to run the Toyota setup up front (2" of lift), then instead of running 3-3.5" LC coils consider using the OME 906 2" lift coil that was designed for the 4Runner. Then you'll have an even lift that shouldn't look goofy with 265s.

Last time I saw someone put on the 906 coil they got quite a bit of lift out of that too (I'd bet the 890s and 906s are within 0.25-0.5" of each other) but definately an improvement over the LC coil unless you run the front spacers and much larger tires (min of 33" IMHO).

i am probobly going to just leave it as it is, the ride is awesome. not too stiff, but planted feeling. and in the future, ill upgrade to 285's unless i can sell the 265's or whatever. in person it doesnt look too bad, and i dont have to worry at all about rubbing at all, it is close in the back when stuffed though, front did rub and I had to remove the limited flair peice on teh bumper, but it still barely touches the rear inner part of the fender occasionally.

 

Kyle do you have any now settled Pics with maybe a 100 lbs of weight in the back? I'm always carrying about 100 lbs of tools with me for work.

the rear spring rate is about 220#/in for downeys and cruiser coils and about 300#/in for OME's.

you can do the simple math from those #'s...

 

yeah, i just put the front spacers on too, so ill try and get some pictures today or tomorrow, it looks more evened out now. i know the car still sits back high, but i like that look, more of an aussie style I guess, i know in Cali they like the prerunner look with the back lower, so it is all personal preference i guess.
bamachem, you ran the trd shocks/springs up front right? did you have squeeking/clanking problems? I cannot find where they are coming from sounds like the swaybar is loose, but i tightened it as much as it would go, any ideas on where i should look?

 

sounds like the top nut on the strut is loose. i had that happen to mine.

 

Both pics over 3/4 full of gass if that makes a difference.
lift just installed, less than 50 miles ago, no top out spacer:

about 400 miles and top out spacer installed (i have a case of 36 bottles of water in the back as well, maybe 30 lbs at the most)

 

Wow, that looks much better. I don't mind the rake or the 265's with the current setup. I actually like the raked look but the first pic was just too much.

since i have a 2wd i'm considering buying the daystar front spacer from wheelers cause im just a fan of the level look....but i dont know if theirs is actually 1.25" or 1" bc daystars website does not list a 1.25" front spacer...but hell for like less than 85 bucks i say its worth it to me

only one of the spacers, cv angles would be too great on droop with more. and they are very steep when at full droop.
the spacer is the one that sonoran steel supplied, i believe that bamachem manufactures them, it looked to be about 5/8th inch thick.

 

I do clearly state you will get 2" front and 3.5" rear. That is 1.5" higher in the rear.

Why higher in the rear? The ONLY way to make the 80 shocks work. If you install the 80 rear coils and rear shocks WITHOUT all the Sonoran Steel "fixes". You WILL destroy the shocks, rear sway bar, sway bar links and lower link bushings the first time out. How do I know? I have bought those replacement parts many many times. This lift was a 5 year ordeal to get right.

If you just order the Toyota parts and don't install any of the fixes, all I can say is you are on your own. I can't fix what I was never given the chance to fix. Some of the items are only available in the full lift kit. Please do not ask me to sell you those items individually, as they are only available with the full kit.

Unlike other lift kits, the main emphasis of this lift is pure off road performance. If the rear needs to be 1.5” higher to gain a huge amount of added rear travel (3.5” more). That is the way it needs to be.

 

no have not had a chance to try and tighten the shock bolt.
and, yes, the kit is complete, no problems whatsoever when i installed, everything went on very easily and it looks OEM (obviously) im super happy with the height now that teh spacers are in, and i can tell you that the rear flexes like mad. i was stunned that it could do what it did.
also it was alot easier and cheaper to order everything from Steve at one time, vs trying to piece it together, and he is super helpful in the 99 million dumb questions i asked him. he has gone beyond what most other venders have ever done for me.

 

Are the LC coils used or did they come new with the kit? IT looks great

 

if you get them from sonoran steel, then you get all new parts from the dealer.

 

I just put this OEM lift from Steve.
My 97 4Runner even rides better then stock!! Those LC coils could even give you up too 4" of lift!!

The rear coils are brand new and will go down over time to 3.5".

The pics above are without the front top out spacers, if you add them, it's sits pretty level, but if sitting level is impotant to you, this is NOT your lift.

That would be System 7. Which will not perform as well off-road, but sits very level.
