OBD II - what do you use?

I do the maintenance myself, regularly and "according to the books",
but I feel like my engine is louder (valves clicking louder) and I definitely
get worse milage and I'm not taking -1MPG.
Engine has ~70K on it and I think it's time for me... "to get more involved in it".
I would like to analyze how systems around my engine are performing.
I'm looking for OBD II reader, but not just to read the check engine codes.
Something I could connect to a notebook with decent software that helps
with troubleshooting and analysis.
Any thoughts?

Thank you.

Auterra. Or anything that uses a compact device.

Ability to read a bunch of sensors and a low price is only half way to a useful device. You'd be surprised at how awkward it is to use a laptop in the vehicle.

You may want to check out http://www.actron.com

I bought one of their scanners a few weeks ago and used it on my 99' limited, a few Chevy's and my girlfriends Ford focus. It works good and ther eare several models to choose from depending on your price range,
