Well I took my 1996 Limited to a person I know at a Dealership and he could not pull the codes off my 4runner.

The little code reader(Toyota Branded Unit) said "error in reading codes" and gave this code "$80"


Has anyone heard of this? My vehicle runs great and gets good mileage (20MPG)

I think it might be an exhaust problem maybe? Anyways, any insight would be appreciated.

$80 is that what you paid for them to tell you there nothing wrong with your truck.

When I first saw that, I thought that was the cost. Nah, I didn't pay anything.

 

$80 - That's Comical. I took mine to AutoZone and had them pull the codes with no problem @ all. Were you connected to the one in the engine bay or the one behind the dash infront of your right knee. Autozone used the latter one with much success.
