Here is something new. I just went up from work to the store and noticed the automatic locks aren't locking (but they are unlocking and the keyless remote works).

arrrggggghhhh!

I'm going to give this a quick bump before I go home from work. Oh wait, I just did

Don't flush the post if you've got some insight I'd like to hear it.

I've had my red top for about 5 or 6 years now. The only time I ever noticed anything other than great performance was Thanksgiving weekend. I was up in the mountains and on a particularly cold morning it turned over slower than usual. But, the truck started right up. So, . . .

Update - I took the battery over to Advance Auto and had it tested. You guessed it - a bad battery. Now I've got to return it to 1st-optima-batteries.com.

I'll let everyone know how the process goes. Anyone have experience with them on a return?

Ditto...Purchased mine from a local retailer...dead as can be. Optima covers this in their tech section. Upon return I took my multi-meter to check all the Optimas on the shelf, found three others that were also dead. Found a good one and haven't had any issues since.

Called 1st-optima-batteries.com and they are sending a UPS return label and a new battery. Nice to have people do the right thing.

Just thought everyone should know.

My first Optima lasted about a month. I bought it at batteries plus ($119) so getting a new one was no prob. So far so good with the second one.

I had the same problem withmine that I purchased from Advanced auto parts. Still running the stock battery for now I thought maybe something was wrong with my Electrical system.

My advice is to buy a regular 60 month battery. A well secured, properly sized battery will last a long time compared to some of the hack installs I've seen on optima batteries. Those "spacers" and wedges of wood used to make these things fit properly are a joke. Then there are those "universal" ones with terminals in the middle of the battery that cause you to stretch your connections. If you have a winch then you should be running it off a separate battery, not your starting battery.
