Is this normal? pic)

Recently drove about 100 miles on dirt in the very dry Mojave Desert. The rear cabin vent, which I thought was supposed to allow cabin air to escape seemed instead to be pumping air and dust into the cabin.
Is this normal?
I plan to open up the interior panel in a few days, but I'd like to know if others have had this same experience. What say you?

Might be coming in through the hatch seal ( weatherstrip ) and being sucked into that vent. I drive on dusty gravel every day and don't have that problem.

Are you sure you didn't have a window down?

Have someone sit in the back and drive the truck around. Do it with the fan blowing or fan off and see if there's any flow that seems odd, such as the vent blowing into the trunk area.

Might have just been a fluke, or maybe some of the ducting is damaged and able to draw in outside air/dust.

Thanks for the replies...
The hatch seals should be good--I recently replaced them.
I'm thinking damaged vent assembly.
Hopefully I'll find out over the weekend.
The irony is that I switched from a pickup with a camper shell to this vehicle
to avoid the problem of dust leaking into the back!
