Another thread about my "adventures" at the snow, although this one addresses a different problem.

I go to the snow every weekend, and predictably, every time my floormats are soaked with snow and mud that invariably gets dragged into the car. My roommate said that he once saw floormats made of rubber, that had an outer-edge lip that basically prevented any water/mud from spilling out onto the carpet/interior.

Since my interior is tan, needless to say it's starting to deteriorate very quickly and I need to do something quick to prevent it from getting ruined forever. Does anyone know the floormats I am describing, and if so, where could I get a set?

 

Could they possibly be Husky Liners? My buddy has a set for his Cherokee and they are made of a moulded rubber that fits the contours of the footwells very closely and have that outer lip you speak of. They are a bit pricey though but I have heard that they are worth it. In my Tacoma, I just have cheap tan rubber floor mats that I bought from Canadian Tire for about $20 CDN that come with tall ridges and a lip around the outside. So far, no problems. All the water I drag in just pools nicely on the mats and eventually dries out.

They are called Husky Liners. You can get them at probably any auto parts store. if you want to check them out online, go to performanceproducts.com. Look for the custom ones, the kind specifically molded for your vehicle.

Husky's are good, but expensive. On the bright side, they make excellent snow sleds.

Costco has some good rubber ones that are only $20 for front and back, and they come in tan.

 

Thanks for all the tips. I'm going to check out Costco first, but if it's not good enough I'll shell out the money for the Husky's.

 

I have the Costco mats and they work fine. I have yet to get any stains in my carpet. They might not be as good as the Huskys, but they are at least medium duty and they look good.

 

I have a set of rubber (not husky) floor matts I bought at local NAPA store. Can't remeber the make.

Husky liners are the best and hold all kinds of mud, snow, crap, dog poop, you name it they keep it off your carpet. The only thing I don't like about my 85 4Runner is that they don't make Husky liners for it.

 

Husky liners definitely do what they are designed to do. but you gotta dump the water out pretty regularly in the winter when you're tracking in all kinds of snow each time you're in and out.

 

Husky liners are the best floor protection that I have ever used. Universal mats, Weathertech etc just don't hold the water that Husky does. Granted, you do need to dump the water out frequently but that's why people buy them - to prevent water and salt from getting on the carpeting.

I real if you are in real bad weather you can throw an old newspaper on the Husky liner, let it soak up the water and throw it out at the end of the day.

I leave mine in all year round. Not the prettiest floor protection but they do work!

I have had the costco mats in my last few rigs, great for the price. I don't care for the Husky's 'cuz we have them in our ambulance at work and they are pretty slippery, and the edges curled up so badly, someone finally just cut the entire corner (6"x6") off, since everyone kept tripping on it when getting in and out.

 

I use husky liners all the way around and in addition I use those ridged mats that claim to hold like 2 gallons of water...They catch most of it and are easier to dump and if anything makes it past them the husky's take care of it.

 

depending on what year truck oyu have, there are used ones on e-bay for 2ng gens, usually. I love my Huskys

 

I have the carpeted Catch-All ones and they work well I get junk on them take them out hose them off put them back in and it will hold melted snow or mud too. I'm sure if you do a search on google you will find lots of places that sell them now.

 

I have the husky liners in my truck.
Had this set in the 91, now in the 94, over 10 years.

Yes they are showing a little age, particularly where my gasfoot heel rests.
Otherwise they look great.

The carpet under these mats is the nicest in the whole truck.

I bought a set for my mom 10 years ago, they work for her Jeep too.



I can't speak one way or the other on these other brands, but can for the Huskys.
These things really work and last a long time.

 

Husky's are great, I've had mine for a while and they work wonders. When I got my custom kickpanels thought I had to cut off one corner, so now I'm in the process of making my own lip with some heavy duty weather stripping and silicone sealer from Lowe's...either way, they still work great. I think they look pretty good too!

I definetly need new floor mats. Huskys are pretty expensive tho. Im going to check Sams club next time I go.

 

Wal-mart also carries heavy rubber mats in a few colors. Not sure if they are as deep as the Huskies, but they're only $20. for the fronts. Had some in the '93 x-cab I just sold for at least 5-6 years. Bought a new set for my new Taco.
