noises coming from under the dash

Hi, my 99 limited has started making a funny noise coming from under the dash on the passenger side. the noise changes, and i think it might be worse when it is really cold (30s) the noise sounds kind of like the antenna motor running, only sometimes there is clicking that goes along with it. also, my heat has been not working as well lately- i have had to turn it on recirculate, all the way up to really warm the car up.

any ideas? thanks!

From: Bryan Tx,
My wifes 02 makes the same noise, like a power antenna motor running, but it does it even when the radio is off, weather the antenna is up or down. It has been driving me crazy and I would like to get it fixed since I plan on selling it next year. Subscribed for an answer.

Sounds like your interior fan unit needs cleaning.

From: Bryan Tx,
Thanks for the idea Wabbit, but it does not seem related to the blower at all. It is intermitent and random, does it weather the blower is on or off.

While I am confident that is not the noise I am hearing, it does sound like a good thing to do anyways. Thanks.

thanks for the responses, although I am afraid i have to agree with yotarob, the noise is not related to the blower in the heater-it does not change when i change the fan speed in the hvac system.

however i am defiintely still doing this as soon as i can- im sure mine's dirtyafter 150k miles and theres always pine needles falling on my hood and windshield from where i park.. so im sure its a mess in there.
