NO *new* 2002 4Runners in Utah!!
I don't know if Toyota was doing the promotion anywhere else, but in Utah, if you put $2000 down on a new 4Runner, the dealership would match it twice ($4,000) so the downpayment would be $6,000. My brother-in-law and I went looking on Sat, and couldn't find one 4Runner. We checked every dealer from Ogden-Draper (wasatch front) and didn't find one.
A dealer in Provo (1 hour away) said that they have one (2002 SR5 Sport Package) on hold but have not collected a deposit on it. If my brother-in-law wanted it, he could buy that day for $28,500. He didn't like the color (dark red), so he ended up buying a 2002 F-150 Supercrew.
Sounds like they are clearing the lots for the 2003 4Runner.

Aww man that sounds bad. It seems as though our 1st 2nd and 3rd gen Runners are going to become alot more valuable, as it looks that no one really likes the way the 4th gen is looking from the start. It's realyl going to tick me off when I'm out of college and looking to find that "Dream Runner" of mine*2002, SR5, Sport Edition, 4x4, Thunder Cloud Grey*. . But in a since it might actually be nice knowing that there are people out there that want to get a hold of an older model Runner and can't b/c we that saw the beauty and potential of 4Runners b4 they truned grocery getter snatched them all up.

I'm afraid with the way Toyota has gone with the new Runner, my only choice if I had to replace my rig would be two choices.
1. A new TRD Tacoma duel cab, long bed, stick shift.
2. A used FJ62.
I think I'd lean towards that latter as I like to pay cash for all my rigs. I don't like payments.
Check out this nice pup I just found on a search.
It has the solid axle up front too

Snif snif, those old Land Cruisers always get me going
Now if only Toyota would build them this way again.

Truly beautiful.
My next rig will be a 81-87ish Landcruiser. Complete with Chevy V-8 vortec swap w/supercharger, Custon Cobalt blue paint job, ~4" lift, ~32-35s, Gun Metal Jaos victron excell II pro wheels (Lloyd Gomez has them on the rig picture page), Autometer guage cluster mounted in brushed stainless w/industrial indicator lights, Momo Competition Steering wheel, etc., etc.
Dreaming,
Sam

Yeah who knows, the masses(stupid people that follow THE Trend of new plastic cars and trucks) might actully like the 03' Runner and grab them up and drop their 2000 and on up for me to grad up later on down the road. I really want my enxt truck to be a 2000+ Runner. But I'm going to ride my babby out for now. I don't know if I would be able to part with "My First Car". Kinda hard to beleive that a 4Runner is actully my first, kinda hard to let something like that go.
