I say non-cryogenically treated since I'm sure that would have been a huge advertising ploy and the price would have been well above the $40-some odd dollars I paid for each. But I have a buddy that does cryogenic work (I tried to get my company to experiment with cryo treated stuff but they wouldn't buy into it. Their loss...) and has the tank... Maybe my next set... GOOD IDEA!

I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CURVE AT ABOUT 25 TO 30 MILES PER HOUR SPEED ON A SLIGHTLY WET ROAD. WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES, THE VEHICLE SKIDDED OUT OF CONTROL AND HIT THE DIVIDER WALL ON THE PASSANGER SIDE AND ROLLED OVER.
VEHICLE WAS MOVING ABOUT 5 MILES PER HOUR INTO A PARKING SPOT WHILE BRAKE PEDAL WAS BEING PRESSED , ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS AN INSTANT ENGINE SURGE WHICH PROPELLED THE VEHICLE OVER THE PARKING LOT MEDIA AND CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER CAR.
WHILE TRAVELING IN SNOW AND APPLYING BRAKES, THE BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD NOT KICK IN, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIDE INTO ANTOTHER VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATON.
Sounds like a lot of highly educated and seasoned drivers submitting these complaints. Given that the site is not generation inclusive, one could only imagine the other ludicrous comments posted by your typical American dumbass in each of the 7 years this gen. of 4Runner was made.
Here's some more great stuff. Surely Toyota is at fault for ALL of it!
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL FELL OFF, AND VEHICLE RAN OFF THE SIDE OFF THE ROAD.CAUSING INJURIES TO OCCUPANTS.
REQUEST TO ELIMINATE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND FOG LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY'RE ANNOYING AND DISTRACTING.
THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR IS WARPED, MAKING IT DIFFUCULT TO FOCUS ON OBJECTS. THERE ARE 2 IMAGES OF OBJECTS BEHIND THE VEHICLE. IT MAKES IT DIFFUCULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT BECAUSE THERE APPEARS TO BE TWICE AS MANY HEADLIGHTS AS THERE ACTUALLY ARE. I'VE HAD THE MIRROR REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHOUT FIXING THE PROBLEM. (uh oh, a reccuring problem. Better put a thicker mirror on it!)
CONSUMER'S FRIEND CALLED & STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AND CONSUMER DIED. HE AND A FRIEND WERE DRIVING ON A DIRT ROAD AND THEY WERE TURNING AROUND THE CORNER AND HIT A CURB, BACK WHEELCAUGHT GRAVEL INSIDE OF THE WHEEL AND THE TRUCK TURNED OVER. DRIVER WAS THROWN THOUGH THE SUN ROOF. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. PASSENGER WAS THROWN OUTSIDE OF THE WINDOW. DRIVER WAS A FATALITY. (Non frontal impact and first gen. airbags aren't known for being infallible; you have to wear you seat belt first anyway)
CONSUMER TEST DROVE A VEHICLE WITH POWER SEATS BUT PURCHASED A VEHICLE WITH MANUAL SEATS AND A MOON ROOF, CONSUMER HEAD BRUSHES THE CIELING WITH THE SEAT IN A COMFORTABLE POSITION, CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE THAT THE ADDITION OF THE MOON ROOF DECREASED HEADROOM BY 2" AND THAT MANUAL SEATS COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED LOWER LIKE THE POWER SEATS, WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS THE CONSUMER OCCASIONALLY HITS HIS HEAD ON THE MOONROOF HOUSING CAUSING MILD INJURY.
Great stuff! And these sort of asinine complaints aren't limited to the 4Runner. I found trucks and cars alike, from Dodges, Fords, Hondas, Nissans, Porsche, Mitsubishi, Subaru, GMCs and Mercedes (14"x1.25" AMG S55 rotors can warp? Must be undersized brakes!), with owners that all "claimed" to have over-dramaticized brake problems, among other, more farfetched concerns.
Just because it's a gov site does not mean it's credible. Take info from the morons submitting complaints on it with a boulder of salt.
