now before all you techies pull your hair out thinking why didnt he just hit the search button, i did. I have read about back spacing and what not however i cant exactly find an answer to what i am looking for. I have a 92 4runner that i am putting 33x12.5 destination MT's on. my truck has a 2 in BL on it. i have to go get rims now for the tires. i was told to go 15x10 (which is fine by me) but now i am not sure what kind of back spacing would keep me from rubbing with these tires. Can you guys offer up any advice on what i should look for?

 

i would go with a 15x8 to minimze rubbing issues if any.....

on firestones website they recommend 8.5"-11" wide rims for these tires. And what about back spacing for each of these size rims?

 

I ran 33x12.5 for 3 years on 15x8...now someone else is driving that vehicle, I see it around from time to time and I can tell he is still running 33x12.5....8" rims are easy to find and the tightness will hold the tire on really really well if you air them down off road...

 

I have those tires on my 89, even with the bj spaceres, and very mild trimming they rub on compressed full turns. I have 8" rims, 10" would be worse as you could effectively widen the footprint. These tires have a very wide profile and are a true 33" tire. You may have to trim a little, crank the T bars some and turn the radio up very loud! ........ I'm thinking about putting cut-out flares on to help. I believe my rims have 3.75" back spacing

 

What are the cons of running a 12.5 in wide tire on a 8 in wide rim? why is is not recommended by the manufacturer

 

running an 8" rims with 12.50s is actually the norm for offroad tires....
