I had a local shop install tokico trekmasters. And now there are puddles of fluid in the my driveway. both the left and right rear are blown. Part number is GE3536.

Botched install? Any insight from these pics? Thanks.

Did you pull the boot down?

 

Would definatly return to the shop for some deserved justification, ie: new shocks at no cost!

 

Yes, for the picture. I was also looking for scratches/damage on the rod, which I didn't see.

 

You don't happen to live in PA do you????? if so I know what did it.

catch is that they were ordered from shox.com, so the installer does not guarantee the product as they didn't supply/sell it. hence, my post, just trying to do some homework first. if anything looks wrong, I'll go back and give them an ear full.

 

If they were the wrong size would that blow them out? Like if they were forced to compress or extend too far?

 

I put a pair of those on mine in August. So far, so good. Do you have a lift?

According to Tokico and the vendor the PN is correct for my application (99 4runner limited 2wd)

 

Just looking at your first pic, it appears as if the exposed piston/rod is very short relative to the possible compression of the rear coils.

I installed Bilstein HDs 7 years ago - still going strong after 140,000+ miles.

I'm very curious to see what you find out.
