its my 3rd 4runner and my 1st time using this site this place is awesome.

is 250 to a tank pretty usual for a 2000 4x4 3.4 my last 2 were a 91 and 97 both were straight shifts, got tired of shifting

any suggestions on the best and cheapest route to running boards or nerf bars

do you think my gas will go down if i get smaller tires or does it need bigeer tires cause it is a 4wd

any help and suggestions is appreciated

Seems like the running boards are usually the first things to come OFF when someone gets a 4runner. I agree with Elton, go with some sliders.

As far as mileage goes...250 seems a little low to me, but check out the other threads.

 

That sounds about right for a 2000. My wife has an '00 4Runner and she gets the same gas milage as well.

If you plan to off road it any, don't get nerf bars. Purchase a set of sliders instead. Just remember, you pay for what you get. "Best" and "Cheapest" don't always go together.

The tire issue is up to you. I don't think you will loose gas milage for running a smaller tire, but again, if you plan to off road it any, then at least keep your stock tire size if you don't plan on going bigger.

you can get better gas mileage bro.. go get some new plugs from the dealership (regular dbl pronged denso or ngk gapped correctly), seafoam treatment, new fuel filter... mine went from (2002 tacoma 3.4 4x4) 275 miles per tank to up to 320 (when the light comes on).. it helped tons!

 

I get 265-275 normally. 250 is a little bit low.

 

in my 02- 290- 315 depending on where i am driving

 

I get around +/- 300 to a tank in my '02 as well, but that's b/c it has a larger tank than my wife's '00 4Runner.

 

When I bought mine used with 46K miles I was getting about 250.Then I did a complete tune-up and changed all the fluids and that took me up to around 300.As for the running boards,I removed mine.
