finally got them installed and aimed. I removed the blinkers due to a cracked housing and decided that i wanted off-road lights there instead of purchasing new blinkers. My main reason for not attaching to the bumper was that I wanted everything to be reversible. I can take everything out and i haven't damaged any components (ie drilling holes in the bumper). right now, I am in the process of routing the blinkers to the corner light location.







To get them to fit, i made aluminum brackets that screw into the blinker mounting location and accept the light mount. I did have to cut off the mount from the bottom of the housing and re-locate it to the back of the housing so the lights would fit better. I used JB-weld and screws to re-attach the mount. Overall, i'm impressed with the light output. the lights are brighter and whiter than my headlights, and they were under $20. these are the lights, but i got them from walmart:

I have the same ones on my truck. Even though they're supposed to be street legal, they give out a mean glare from what I can tell..
(the trees way above and to the side light up when I turn them on, even with the most concentrated part of the beam aimed lower than the headlights)
1 out of probably 5 cars would flash me with them on, so I hardly ever use them anymore =\

 

i had a set of those lights where great for 20 bucks on my 93 pickup same spot where SoildDigital has them had and a set of piaa star white bulbs in them now there in my hella 500s

Those lights look good, but a little out of place. Why not try to fit some hellas inside the bumper? Regardless they are great little lights. I have 4 of them on my roofrack and they put out plenty of light.

 

yea, they put out a great beam as driving lights. I was not impressed w/ my friend's stock fogs on his '99, and these work much better. The light is really well focused on the highway and the difference is night + day vs. my stock low beams. they do stick out, but its pretty flush with the fat-lip bumper, so i don't mind. I do wish the 4runner came with these style lights embedded in the bumper rather than the little fogs.

you shoulda put them in the factory hole. Just pop out the plastic piece. Then they would be inset.

 

thanks for the comments. i have thought about other locations, but this seems to work best for me.
