New Here with Tire ?

I am looking to replace tires on my 99 runner that currently have 265/70-16 on them. Its a base model with the small mud flaps on front with no running boards. Can I go to a 265/75 with no problem with rubbing. I am looking at Hankook Dyna Pros or Rugged Terrains from BFG

Yes, you can fit a 265/75-16 stock. Those Hankook Dynapro RF10's are really nice. You'll like them.

Just curious, what are you hoping to gain? The sidewall height difference between 265/70 and 265/75 is a mere 13 millimeters.

Yet the 265/75's will throw off your speedometer and odometer by 3%.

13mm x 2 = 26mm = ~ 1 inch. And I've heard reports that speedos become MORE accurate with the slightly taller tire. That would be the case with my truck, since it constantly shows 2-3 mph faster than clocked by radar (I'm on 265/70s).

The main reason is the price on 75s is lower on the runs pro tires seem like a great tire for the money

bfg's are where its at. i have the rugged trails on my truck and they have great on road/offroad traction. the only thing i dont like is, they pick up rocks and rain traction isnt great.

I have BFG Rugged Trails on mine at the 265/75 and yeah I laugh when I look at my speed then see a radar sign telling me I'm around 3 to 4mph slower. . I have no scrubbing issues and so far full range of motion w/out issue

I've got the hankook's myself and they are great. had them about 6 months and can wait for the snow to fall this winter. if you can go with a wider wheel def get more of a footprint on the ground. good luck!

Just stay away from Bridgestone Duelers...they are noisy as hell and tend to develop a wum-wum-wum noise that comes and goes.

Interesting math there.

The sidewall height on a 265/70 is 185 mm.

The sidewall height on a 265/75 is 198 mm.

The difference is a miniscule 13 milimeters. Multiplying the sidewall height by 2 won't make your 4runner any taller.

Yes, math is interesting, isn't it? Sidewall is a measure along the radius, which means the tire is 26mm larger in diameter. Actual "lift" will amount to 13mm, yes.

The point is, you get 1/2 inch of "lift". Which is better than no lift, in most people's eyes. So, why wouldn't you do it?

I have Cooper AT3s on my truck.i really have come to love them. They have great traction in the mud but havent got to try them in the snow yet. The rain traction is decent. ive had them for 4 months and they've been good to me this far.

Definitely a good tire to consider! I had a set on my Runner for about 6 months before I sold her. Awesome looking, not too loud for an m/t and phenomenal traction. There are some actual on rig pics somewhere in my update page on here.

I just bought some and gotta get them mounted this week. I had atr's on my hilux and they were great in the winter. I've whined down the highway before and I don't really have a reason to do that anymore.

Same situation with the T. Same size stock tire and none of the ones I wanted come in LT. Even at the last minute I considered getting the 265/70 but you could obviously see the tread wasn't as deep.

Would have went for the dynapros or the duratracs otherwise. Whatever can get me through that white stuff.
