I have a 97 4Runner 3.4L. I've had hesitation and a few diagnostic codes.

Currently, I have a P0305 and I previously had a P0303. Here's the new stuff.


-Air Filter
-Fuel Filter
-Spark Plugs (Dealer NGK)
-Spark Plug Wires (Bosch) - I know, I know
-TPS
-Both O2 sensors
-Cleaned MAF
-New Cat (about 9 months old)

I found some fuel injectors at a reasonable price.

Has anybody heard of or used this brand?

Any other ideas about the current P0305 and the P0420?

 

Have you considered just removing your existing injectors and sending them out to be serviced? I know several LandCruiser friends have done it and enjoyed the improvement, I think this is the place that did them;

I thought about doing something like that. However, that would still run about the same price. And, if there is a problem with an injector, I would still have to replace it anyway.

I'm just trying to weigh my options.

 

I have no idea, but I wonder if the new ones in your link are OEM quality or not? That would be the rub for me, sticking to OEM parts as much as possible. Hopefully someone else will chime in with their experience.

 

Getting yours cleaned would save you about $40 over those ($18 x 6 injectors = $108 vs. $148 for the ones you are looking at), plus then you still have oem injectors. They would be able to tell you if there is a problem with any of them.

I used WitchHunter.com and had mine back within a few days.

Check the resistance first. With the engine cool, disconnect the connector, measure the ohms resistance and it should read around 13-18 ohms. I had the same issue but with a P0301 code. Bought my injectors from www.fiveomotorsports.com which cost $350.00. Now my 4R runs like a champ.

 

Thank God the code is setting on the side of the engine where I can get to those connectors.
I'll check the resistance and see what I find.

O.K., I checked the resistance of the injectors. All were around 15 ohms. I went ahead and swapped the #5 and #1 coil to see if it'll throw a code and follow. At this point, either it's a coil going bad or a clogged fuel injector. We shall see.

 

I'm so glad I swapped the coil around. Now my code is P0301. You know what that means. I'm picking up a new coil this afternoon. I'll let you guys know what went down.

OK guys. The coil was the answer. She runs great now.
I did make an observation though.
When I compared the new and old coil, I noticed the spring that actually carries the current from the coil to the spark plug in that cylinder was compressed a lot more in the old coil pack. I read somewhere that someone had a bad connection with the spark plug that caused hesitation. I can't help but to beleive that I should have gotten a pick and pulled out the spring some for a better connection. The heat and time probably allowed the spring to compress enough to not have a solid connection.

 

I would have looked into coils/wires first before anything else. But it is great that you did fix your problem. Injectors took a while to replace.
