New Clutch
Well, you may know that I recently installed the S/C and soon after my clutch started to slip really bad.
Well after much research and consideration I was sold on the Southbend Kevlar clutch, these guys really seem to know there stuff and I was OK with the $400 kit.
Well I drove about 250 miles last Friday and the clutch got real bad, I couldn't even accelerated in 5th gear without slippage. This is my daily driver, and I need it for work, so I had to act fast.
So...I didn't have time to have a Southbend shipped or any other online toyota dealer (TOR), no local after market dealer had anything in stock, so I bought an OEM from the Stealership. $268 for the kit, not too bad. (I actually opened a business account to get a 20% discount)
I had the flywheel step machined to 25 thousands, instead of the stock 20 thousands so it will have more holding power and engage quicker.
Long story short, 8 hours of me laying on my back in the drive way. The clutch is in and the truck pulls like a V8. I can easily chirp the tires in 2nd gear. And it is smooth.
I am happy! I only hope it lasts.

hey Jim, alot of times when I'm in a crunch and have to go to the stealership for parts, I'll call first and get the quote and then I'll ask if I can get internet pricing. they quoted me a price of $40+ per cv boot kit last weekend and they ended up giving them to me for $27 per kit after I asked for internet pricing.
How do you open a business account? do you have a business to do that with?

I told them that I was doing business as (Blank) Automotive (insert my last name) and I would prefer to pay sales tax instead of doing W4's. The guy told me that he has several people that have a side business that do it this way, it saves you $ on parts and you don't have to deal with W4's because you pay tax up front.
Pretty cool huh?

I figure, if the OEM goes again, I know I need to upgrade. I am also trying to modify my driving style to not be so hard on the clutch.
