This is only for the 4th gen, Lance did a good job making them, considering it was his first time working with fiberglass. We were both pushing to get everything done, so corners were cut to get everything ready for the expo. There's still a few adjustments that need to be made, but here's an attached close-up.

Lance, you know well enough that my truck has MANY permanent mods and has been attacked with a grinder MULTIPLE times ... so, going back to stock is not an issue I am worried about.

I know this. And we have cut my frame many times with a grinder for other mods, so it is not an issue.

You cut your frame but didn't cut off a significant portion. That rear chunk is a good 15-20# (I think). dunno but now that's really choppin the buns off!

Tracy, read between the lines as I'm just goofing off with ya knucklehead

Yes, but the point was that I am pretty much committed to keeping this truck and not returning it to stock -- that was something I had to deal with before I did some of the stuff that I have, and I am perfectly okay with that. I am not worried about cutting off that much of the rear frame.

Bruce, nice work on the 3rd gen bumpers. They look great and I'm always directing people to your build when they are looking for armor.

Very easy to make, use some surfboard foam, since they are small pieces, I told Lance to call some surfboard shops and see if he could get some scrap pieces. then from ther it was time to shape them and apply a coat of fiberglass. They are bolted to the body, covered by the bumper. They need to be re-done since he ground off too much at the tail lights in the back....

re-done? bleh... no thanks! I think I'll just build new ones if and only if they get ripped off by the rocks... otherwise they're ok for my liking for now.

now if someone wants to do some fab work for me for flee then I'm all for it

Just dropped off my bumper and should have a quote in the next few days. Most likely, I'll have 20 bumpers in the first run, it really depends on how many pieces can be fitted per sheet. Looks like I'll be making the bumper very close to the original, if so I'll leave the frame mounts separate so the end user can weld them to fit. This will be sold as a kit, unless you live near me, then I can install it for you.
any news?

Still working on this, the price quoted to do all the work was much higher than expected. Once I can get some free time, I have one other manufacturer to get a price from. Either which way, I'll probably have the parts laser cut and bent, then I'll have to do all the welding. I'm still trying to shoot for a $500 price range, I just need to re-calculate all the numbers to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Been very busy with my regular job and it's difficult to get quotes, since companies are only open during weekdays. Once I get some time off during rainy days, I'll be able to persue this.

Good news is, I'll be doing all the welding and bending, so the cost for outsourcing the lasercutting won't be as bad. I aquired a sheetmetal brake from a fabrication shop, so this will speed up the process...

I still want to have a finished product ready for sale before I take orders and some recent family problems has depleted my savings, so I'll have to wait for my tax return to get the needed income to begin.

Yeah i can understand busy Are you stilling shooting for a retail price of about 500 or was that your cost? Hopefully what ever has depleted your savings has been or is being resolved. Good luck.

Ok, here's the latest

I'll be building Charles a bumper in the comming weeks, mainly so I can build the jigs needed to cut the compound angles in the 2x4 main tube.

I finally got the 3 in 1 sheetmetal brake, shear, roller and a very nice compressor. I plan to make a cardboard template then cut out the side wings as if they were lasercut, If all goes smooth I'll have an extra one to give to my supplier to copy. I'll keep ya'll updated on the progress.

I made a post in another thread, so I won't go into details, but my mother is still holding on and is back in a nursing home, but isn't expected to live much longer. this has kept me on edge, making funeral arriangements, ect.....
