Need some info about JAOS Rear Skid Bar !!!

Ok i just got my new 2003 4runner and i live in brooklyn NY outside NYC. The people around here can't drive for crap and use you bumper as guide to park. I dont want them hitting my bumpers I like it painted and would like it to stay that way, so i want to purchase some bumper guards (what are they called exactly?) Im looking at the JAOS Rear Skid Bar but im alittle unsure of its structural soundness. If its only connected to the car in the center at the hitch what will happen if it gets alittle bump for the right or left ends??? Also do they have locks for these things someone will steal it other wise? Do i wait or get an aftermarket chrome tube bumber that attachs at two points to the chasse. Its bolted on, 4 on each side. I can get it installed for 560 not sure how much if not installed im gonna call on monday to see. Whats everyone opinion?

I'm not sure about the Jaos one, but Performance Products makes one that looks pretty sound. It is black powdercoated too, so it can handle some crap.

The PP one bolts on to the frame using stock mounts. Don't know about the Jaos one, but I'm sure it bolts to the frame too. You could always get different nuts, to it's harder to steal it....just a thought.

The JAOS rear skid bar does not plug into the hitch. It is bolted to the undercarrige onto the body. My wife backed into a pole with it and it left a little dimple on the bar but no damage to the bumper. Great piece. High price. Let me know if you want a good price on one. They aren't cheap.

prob did that so it looks like left hand driving vs the right hand driving in japan....

an easy way out to show the other people who drive left handed that JAOS has parts for em...

that's my guess

or someone just accidentally flipped the image

What is that thing sticking up from the front fender? It looks like a small side mirror or maybe some kind of intake snorkel.

rob:

it's a mirror to see the blind spot... us US folks don't get those cool features cuz our roads are large and the driveways are large...

if you ever go to japan you'll understand what a "small" driveway is... you're talkin inches to the wall kinda parking....

I like the center protector, but am worried that it may increase damage to the front end that may have otherwise been minor.

I really like those wheels too.
