I have a 1990 Pickup 4x4 with the 22re. I recently took it to the dealer to get a stalling/surging problem fixed. They replaced my EGR and adjusted my valves. I picked it up yesterday and it is still stalling at idle. Its a 5-speed and if I leave it in neutral for more than like 10 seconds it turns off. I took it right back to the dealer and they said that they cannot find anything wrong with it.
A few months ago the previous owner had a new TPS put in it. My neighbor is a mechanic and he said he thought that might not be correctly set or adjusted or whatever. Any suggestions? Its still at the dealer right now and they are "looking at it." They charged me 560 dollars for the EGR and valve adjustment and they want to charge me again just for looking at it this second time and diagnosing it. Some 80 diagnostic fee. I payed one of those for the first time they "fixed" it. Any help would be greatly appreciated..

BTW, I live in North Carolina and the dealer I took it to is Leith Toyota.

 

Well I just got off of the phone with the dealer and apparantely they cant get it to cut off. It did it everytime it was idling for my brother and I. So it happens on and off. It didnt do it for me until I had been driving for about 25 minutes.

 

I remember reading a fix to this situation with a link from this site author of fix was shane or shawn? try searching here, google, dogpile, If I recall correct its some vac BSV and break booster deal
