IMO, since you have removed your other emblems, I'd go ahead and remove the "4Runner" & "toyota" emblem too.

Oh and just remember, if you remove that hitch, you'll see your factory spare much easier...that is, if it's still under there. For grins, take your hitch off and see how your 4Runner looks. If you don't like it, just reinstall it.

Tailgate cleaned up good though! It's nice that you can't see the "ghost" letters after you removed the emblems.
Yes it's two holes. They help with alignment when fitting the oval Yota badge

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Sort of like the painted spare tire covers on the new FJs...yet you only need half of that to cover the part of the tire you can see from the rear. Paint the piece to match your vehicle and you'd be good to go. Otherwise, find a new place for your spare tire

Yep, my wife's 4Runner looks just like this w/o the hitch installed. (Shots of Psraff's 4Runner I pulled from the link he provided):

Yup I did that on my 98' 4Runner, got them from the dealer and they come with adhesive.

Look at my pics on this thread. Yes you see the spare tire more, but I got used to mine being off. If I ever get a top rack, the tire will be moved up there. The hitch is about 50 lbs. so think of the gas you'll save!! j/k

Man it looks much better w/out the hitch. I'll probably remove mine this weekend!

I'm talking about the word TOYOTA, not the oval emblem. So the word "TOYOTA" doesn't have anything else but adhesive holding it on there, right?

I'm bucking the trend and will be adding more badges and not even from Toyotas.

(actually I do think the TOYOTA is coming off soon)

did you buy the kit like someone else mentioned? how about the "limited" badge that is on the side of the vehicle, did you change that one also? my grille already has a silver one (from a previous fender bender) and i just don't like the gold very much, and since they don't match that just gives me an excuse to tell my girlfriend why i am spending money on that instead of her.

The toyota emblem on the right came off clean, but the 4runner and toyota logos didn't come off as well. You can see parts of the outline of both of those badges. I believe it's from the adhesive being on there so long that it took parts of the paint off with it. If you look closely, you can see the outline in the picture. Doesn't look bad in most lighting conditions, but definately will be repainted down the road. Also have to redo the decepticon logo...it's slightly crooked and buggin the heck outta me.

Have you tried using some heavy duty compound on it? Mine looked like that, then I used compound and it came right off.

Yeah, I tried using a polishing compound, but it didn't work as well as I had hoped. However, it was a turtle wax rubbing compound...I read bad reviews of it AFTER I already used it. Doh! Was your outline from hard water spots or slightly chipped paint? The coumpound did remove the hard water outline, but made the tiny chip-like marks stand out more.

You gotta use that compound that has grits in it, kinda like sand. It looks like mud and is very rough. After you use that your paint will look 20 times worse, but thats a good thing. Now use the polishing compound, and then wax it. I repeated that process about 5 times and I couldn't even tell the emblems were ever there!

well hurry up and get those black headlights mounted and get me some pics.... I just got done washing the Runner and giving it it's first waxing of the season.... That headlight I was telling you about that has the large chips in it has moisture and dust in there and if you look at the front of my Runner it looks like it has a black eye.... I just may have to get those lights before my tinted windows....

...I'm just waiting on you and how they look on your's.

Yeah man, they should be here by early next week depending on when they were shipped. I ordered them Tuesday morning, but I'm not sure if Jason even has them in stock. I sent him a PM and then he tried calling me but I haven't got ahold of him yet...
