Heat gun not hair dryer, maybe small scraping tool, goof off and rubbing compound.

It's not completely debadged yet, just the SR5 & 4WD emblems have been removed. But yeah I'll get some pics up probably tomorrow.

Can someone enlighten me....why do people de-badge their vehicles? is it just so everything is nice and clean looking?

Exactly, my rear end was very cluttered & crowded before. Now it looks nice & clean!

Looks good man! The weather has been bad, so I haven't even had my 4Runner out of the garage, but it's suppose to be nice tomorrow so I should be able to take some pics. And I'm actually suprised that you don't have any LED tails yet, I figured you would've already had those, haha.

Alright, next I'm going to take the Toyota emblem off, and I'm still debating if I should take the 4Runner emblem off??

Definitely take the toyota off, as for the 4Runner one, I say take the one off of your license plate, and move the 4Runner emblem to where the 96-98's are. That is what I plan on in the summer

Fo_Sheezy... Off topic, but your runner is so clean looking, have you thought about removing your hitch? On your truck, it almost looks out of place. Or do you have things you pull?

If you take off the toyota emblem, you're going to be left with two nice holes... I'd take off the 4Runner and the toyota letters like I did

But if you do keep the 4Runner emblem, you'll definitely want to relocate it.

Two nice holes? So it's like drilled in there?

The toyota emblem is held on by glue and tabs. There are 2 or 3 small holes pre-drilled in the metal that the tabs on the emblem "pop" into.

IMO, since you have removed your other emblems, I'd go ahead and remove the "4Runner" & "toyota" emblem too.

Oh and just remember, if you remove that hitch, you'll see your factory spare much easier...that is, if it's still under there. For grins, take your hitch off and see how your 4Runner looks. If you don't like it, just reinstall it.

Tailgate cleaned up good though! It's nice that you can't see the "ghost" letters after you removed the emblems.

Look at my pics on this thread. Yes you see the spare tire more, but I got used to mine being off. If I ever get a top rack, the tire will be moved up there. The hitch is about 50 lbs. so think of the gas you'll save!! j/k

You know, I just thought of something... I bet one of the fab guys would make a rear "underplate" that could be mounted right where hitch mounts and it could cover the tire. Nice, rounded plate coming down from the bumper... Just an idea....

Yes, many people have removed their stock emblems to replace them with a different color...me included. My wife's '00 4Runner came standard with gold emblems. I removed those and reinstalled a set of silver emblems I purchased from the dealer. The new emblems will have new adhesive as well. Just peel and stick. While I was at it, I removed all the silver emblems on my '02 4Runner and went back with oem black pearl emblems . (Oh and I was even able to resale my used silver emblems too.)

Just be prepared to drop some cash down at the dealer for an emblem kit. IIRC, the silver emblem kit was around $225 +/-. The black pearl emblem kit, well it's no longer available as a full kit. Only a few of these emblems are still avail.
