Need E-Brake help

Anyone replaced the e-brake cable? Mine broke last weekend, but at the time I figured it just came loose. Nope - cable broke about 1/4" from the handle end. Of course, it's right at a spot where I can't splice it. Can it be spliced somewhere else or should the whole thing be replaced? Any idea how to get the broken end out of the handle? I've completely removed the handle assembly, but can't get the cable end out - the brake light activator rod won't turn. Neither will the nut holding the brake light switch. Hope you know what I'm talking about, because this is the best description I can give w/o filling up the whole page.
By the way, my FSM says nothing about this.

Thanks in advance!

Hey man the cable is easy to replace besides that nut that holds the switch. I couldnt get mine out and when I tried i broke it off. Granted I fixed the cable but now I need a zip tie around the switch so I can run my cruis control. That nut is the key once you get it off you can get the entire thing. I fixed mine while it was still under the dash. Go to a dealer and ask them how to get that out and the rest of it can be done at home. The part is only like 30 bucks and it will save you a ˟˟˟˟load of time. I f you have anymore questions let me know. you can email me at reaton@wou.edu
