Question need advise

i wanna put running boards on my 2000 they already come with fender flares, i have found some used boards but they have that piece in the front that would go over a piece i already have i am having trouble color matching too. i found some nerf bars from smitty built i am just a little skeptical of the brackets. they do not look too sturdy. and i need an opinion black or chrome onmy truck i have family members that have a hard time getting in

If you plan on doing ANY wheeling with it, then skip the running boards and go straight to sliders. They can still be used as a step up and down, but will protect the rocker panels from abuse - unlike the tin foil running boards.

I also suggest avoiding Smittybuilt - they just don't make them as stout as they did years ago.

I am not positive, but I would guess that there are running boards that will work with your fender flares if they are stock. Is yours a base, SR5, or Limited because that is going to get you closer to the ones you need, and I am sure there are people on this site that will sell you them. Nerf bars look good as well, but they are not meant to be anything more than beefy looking running boards, in other words you can use them to step on to get in the car, but don't count on them holding up the weight of your truck.
